If you have received a notice of foreclosure sale (also called a sheriff’s sale), call your lender immediately and request a loan modification package. Contact the Center for Nonprofit Housing (CNH). Time is critical. You must communicate everything with your lender and counselor.
Losing a home is devastating. It impacts families, both financially and emotionally, for years.
CNH, a TrueNorth community service, works with families and individuals in Newaygo, Oceana, and Muskegon counties to help them save their homes from foreclosure caused by past-due property taxes or delinquent mortgage payments.

While not all families and individuals can avoid foreclosure, we utilize all available options to help you save your home. We are certified through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) to provide high-quality foreclosure counseling at no cost to you.
CNH will:
- Help you communicate and negotiate with your lender or mortgage company to see what refinance or modification options you may have.
- Strive to help families in Newaygo County who are denied all other assistance thanks to generous support from the Fremont Area Community Foundation.
